Carpet overlocking

The process of carpet overlocking is sewing a border around the edges of a carpet using an overlocking machine. This prevents the carpet from fraying and provides a stylish finish.

When a home or office is carpeted, there is invariably carpet left over (offcuts). These offcuts can be turned into rugs or mats. Not only does this provide you with a useful product it is also better for the environment as the offcuts do not find their way into landfill.

Old rugs can also be refreshed by having them re-overlocked.

Non slip felt backing

Non slip felt backing is glued onto the back of a mat or rug and then overlocked into place - this ensures that it has a seamless attachment and is never coming off.

Non slip felt backing has many advantages including:

  • reduces the movement of your mat or rug on the floor

  • keeps the rug flat which reduces tripping risk

  • reduces the incidence of rugs buckling

  • protects the floor under the mat from scratches
